Ngā Hua a Tāne-te-wānanga – AUT Māori Research Symposium 2026

Tuesday 25 August 2026

Hosted by Te Ipukarea in collaboration with Te Kawerau ā Maki, this symposium celebrates connection across our Māori research whānau. Bringing together established and emerging Māori researchers, the symposium provides a space to share research, Indigenous methodologies and new thinking, grounded in the whenua of Te Kawerau ā Maki. Join us Tuesday 25 August 2026 at Te Puna Creative Hub, Te Kōpua (Henderson).

Paraikete as Conduits for Connection Research Seminar

Wednesday 16 September 2026

Join Associate Professor Rachel Carley (Te Rarawa) as she explores how creative practice, whakapapa and whenua are woven together through the design of paraikete inspired by the taiao. The research seminar will trace her creative haerenga and explore the complex history of paraikete in Aotearoa, including their roles as clothing, koha, trade items and expressions of political resistance. Te Ao Tā Pukapuka: The Pathway from Research to Book Publication Workshop

Te Ranga Tukutuku and Auckland University Press invite you to a lunchtime workshop exploring the pathway from research and writing to book publication. Featuring Dr Katharina Bauer, Professor Tania Ka’ai and Associate Professor Natalie Robertson, the session will share practical advice on what publishers look for, developing a successful book proposal, publishing Māori oral traditions and creative works, with an opportunity to bring your questions and book ideas. Te Ranga Tukutuku's first Hui ā-Tau

Join us for the Te Ranga Tukutuku's Hui ā-Tau at Waihorotiu, AUT City Campus, bringing our whānau together to reflect on the year, share our Network Report and launch our Māori Research Strategy. The day will include kai tahi, workshops, a postgraduate and alumni panel and a guest speaker, providing opportunities to share whakaaro, celebrate our collective mahi and look ahead to 2027. Māori Research Guidelines Launch

Te Ranga Tukutuku will launch our Māori Research Guidelines in October, providing guidance to support Māori-centred and Māori-led research across AUT. Further information about the launch, including the date, venue and registration details will be shared soon.
