Join Associate Professor Rachel Carley (Te Rarawa) as she explores how creative practice, whakapapa and whenua are woven together through the design of paraikete inspired by the taiao. The research seminar will trace her creative haerenga and explore the complex history of paraikete in Aotearoa, including their roles as clothing, koha, trade items and expressions of political resistance. Te Ranga Tukutuku and Auckland University Press invite you to a lunchtime workshop exploring the pathway from research and writing to book publication. Featuring Dr Katharina Bauer, Professor Tania Ka’ai and Associate Professor Natalie Robertson, the session will share practical advice on what publishers look for, developing a successful book proposal, publishing Māori oral traditions and creative works, with an opportunity to bring your questions and book ideas. The day will include kai tahi, workshops, a postgraduate and alumni panel and a guest speaker, providing opportunities to share whakaaro, celebrate our collective mahi and look ahead to 2027.
